Dubbed the ‘undiscovered Tuscany’, the Empordà region of Catalonia is an epicurean slice of heaven. This most northeasterly knuckle of the Iberian Peninsular, relatively unknown given its gastronomic, viticultural and olive oil producing heritage, has been producing wine and olive oil since the Greeks, Romans and Arabs inhabited the area 2,500 years ago.

Discovered by the Romans, conquered by the Moors and with close ties to Valencia and Catalonia, the largest of the Balearic Isles is steeped in history and culinary tradition. Where mountain landscapes of the Sierra de Tramuntana roll into the azure waters of the Mediterranean, a hearty cuisine rooted in fresh, local ingredients is born.

    The Accursed Mountains

The name given to the rugged borderlands of Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo. It’s an evocative name, but one which fails to do the area justice, since it’s a spectacularly beautiful place – jagged limestone peaks, rolling green pastures, high passes and wonderfully hospitable mountain villages.
